Chic dineren in de gloednieuwe AmsterTram
Het Parool covered the launch of the new dining tram with a feature on Amsterdam’s moving restaurant experience.
The AmsterTram is a one-of-a-kind dining experience in Amsterdam: you enjoy dinner in an atmospheric tram while the city glides past your window. During the ride, we serve a five-course culinary dinner with a matching drinks arrangement. It brings together the best of three worlds: dining out, discovering Amsterdam and experiencing the charm of the city’s historic tram heritage.
The AmsterTram is a moving restaurant inside a former Amsterdam tram. The tram has been transformed into a comfortable restaurant on rails, with dining tables, service on board and everything you need for a complete culinary evening out. Instead of dining at one fixed address, you travel through Amsterdam while seated at your table.
The concept is designed for anyone looking for a special restaurant in Amsterdam: couples, groups of friends, families, business guests and visitors to the city. The AmsterTram is not a standard sightseeing tour and not a conventional restaurant, but a full-evening experience where gastronomy, city views and Amsterdam tram history come together.

You reserve a table in the restaurant tram and step aboard for a fully hosted culinary ride through Amsterdam. A five-course dinner is served on board with a carefully matched drinks arrangement. While you dine, the tram travels through the city and lets you experience Amsterdam from a different perspective.
Tables can be reserved for 2 or 4 guests. Larger parties can book group options: half a tram with 22 seats or the full tram with 44 seats. That makes the AmsterTram equally suitable for an intimate dinner, a company outing, an anniversary, a birthday, a client event or a group activity in Amsterdam.
Restaurant trams are rare worldwide. The AmsterTram brings this special concept to Amsterdam and gives it a distinctly local character. You experience the city not from the pavement, the water or a coach, but from a moving tram that is itself part of Amsterdam’s history.
The tram is based on a former GVB 12G tram and has been given a second life as a restaurant tram. In doing so, the AmsterTram connects the city’s public-transport heritage with a modern culinary experience. The result is an original evening out for Amsterdammers, Dutch visitors and international guests alike.
The idea for the AmsterTram grew out of the experience with the RotterTram. When the Electric Museum Tram Line Amsterdam got in touch about an Amsterdam version, it created an opportunity to preserve a retired Amsterdam tram and redesign it for hospitality. Using the knowledge gained in Rotterdam, the concept was further developed for Amsterdam, with attention to comfort, hospitality, routing and the complete dinner experience.
The AmsterTram is ideal for guests looking for more than just a restaurant reservation. It is a great choice for:
For groups, the AmsterTram offers options ranging from individual tables to half-tram and full-tram bookings. Half a tram seats 22 guests and the full tram seats 44 guests, making the restaurant tram suitable for business gatherings, private dinners and festive group reservations.
