Job Description: Hospitality Manager – AmsterTram

32–40 hours per week | Flexible shifts

Location: Amsterdam | Weekdays and weekends

Oversee operations and create unforgettable guest experiences aboard a tram-restaurant in the heart of Amsterdam!

We are looking for a Hospitality Manager who is also an excellent host or hostess.

Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of management experience
  • Proficient in both spoken and written Dutch and English
  • Ability to handle operational management and lead a team
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to foster team development and create structure

You’ll oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring everything runs smoothly before, during, and after tram rides. This includes handling emails and calls, hosting guests, maintaining professionalism, and creating unforgettable guest experiences. Working in a moving tram-restaurant requires creativity and flexibility. You’ll co-lead the business, improve services, design packages, establish collaborations, handle procurement, and coach the team while ensuring a warm and welcoming atmosphere for guests and colleagues alike. A dinner shift involves about 6 hours, while a lunch shift is approximately 5 hours.

Bonus points if you:

  • Know Amsterdam well and can share fun stories and tips about the city
  • Have completed relevant hospitality training
  • Have your own transportation (car)
  • Look great in Amsterdam’s iconic red-and-white colors
  • Hold certifications for Social Hygiene and First Aid (BHV)

What is the AmsterTram?

Starting March 2025, the AmsterTram will operate as a tram-restaurant in Amsterdam. This unique concept is one of only four similar restaurant trams in the world! Built in 1990, this tram ran daily through Amsterdam until 2021 and has recently been converted into a restaurant on wheels, complete with a kitchen, restroom, and seating for 44 guests.

We will offer dinner rides of 2.5 hours from Wednesday to Sunday. Additionally, the tram can be rented for private events like lunch, drinks, or high tea, and extra rides will be offered occasionally.

The AmsterTram provides a unique and culinary experience of Amsterdam, perfect to share with family, friends, or colleagues. We are proud and passionate about connecting our guests to the city and each other. With a personal and dedicated approach to our guests and colleagues, we aim to deliver an unforgettable experience.

Your tram team will include:

  • A tram driver (via the Electric Museum Tram Line Amsterdam)
  • A chef (via our catering partner Sonah Catering)
  • A service staff member

Together, the four of you will form the AmsterTram team.
